Step by Step, we will bake up the best batch of Christmas sugar cookies you’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting; and SHARING! These “Foolproof Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies” are from none other than Southern Kitchen’s recipe book!

This recipe makes 5-6 dozen cookies, depending on your cookie cutter sizes! Get creative with Christmas trees, ornaments, candy canes, and more!

Ingredients:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sugar, + some for sprinkling
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter (melted + cooled)
  • 2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt

Now, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. In a large bowl, mix eggs until smooth, then add in sugar and vanilla. Continue whisking and slowly pour in butter. Stir in the flour, baking powder and salt until thoroughly mixed. (Note, your dough should have the consistency of Play-Doh).

Next, flour your Toll Brothers or Tri Pointe Home’s countertop and roll out your dough until it is about 1/8 inch thick. Use your adorable cookie cutters to then make your shapes and lay each cookie onto the baking sheet about 1 inch apart. Don’t forget to sprinkle the tops with a little sugar! Bake for 10-12 minutes and let cool before icing!

You won’t regret indulging in ALL the sweet treats this Christmas. This is also a great activity to enjoy with family and friends! Merry Christmas everyone and we hope to see you soon at Lakes at Creekside!
